Two brothers survive gun attack
KUALA LUMPUR : Two brothers, one who sustained a gunshot to his right eye survived an attack by an unidentified gunman at Taman Samudera, near Sunway Batu Caves here today.
The brothers who are aged 30 and 34 were seated in two separate cars opposite a used car sales outlet near a petrol station at about 12.45pm when they were attacked.
Witnesses told police that two men were spotted stepping out of a silver Nissan vehicle parked near the victims cars before dashing towards the victims.
One of the attackers whipped out a pistol, opened the driver's door of the older victim's car before opening fire.
The gunman then rushed to the other victim's car before firing a gunshot and wounding the man.
The gunman and his accomplice fled the scene soon after.
It is learnt that the older victim suffered a gunshot to his right eye and the bullet exited his left temple while his brother was shot in the right ear.
Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said police went to the scene after being alerted by a passer-by. He said both brothers were sent to the Selayang Hospital for treatment and the motive of the shooting is yet to be ascertained.
Sources said police are checking if the case was linked to gangland activities in the area.
Police urged those who have information on the case to come forward and assist police in the probe.
Yesterday's case was the third incident involving a firearm attack over the past week in Selangor.
On Wednesday, a 43-year-old businessman who was driving his car was shot dead by a gunman just after the victim went past the Sg Rasau, Klang highway toll gate.
The gunman who was on a motorcycle is believed to be a hired killer.
Earlier on the same day at a restaurant in Rawang, a 41-year-old man who was having his breakfast at a restaurant in Rawang was seriously wounded when a motorcyclist went up to him and fired several gunshots.
The victim who suffered a gunshot wound to his left arm survived. A restaurant worker was also injured in the case after being hit by a stray bullet.
