Showtime ends 'Penny Dreadful' series

22 Jun 2016 / 03:44 H.

THE news that the popular horror drama series "Penny Dreadful" will not be continued for a fourth season was revealed in the credits of season three's finale on Sunday, June 19.
Taking its name from the "penny dreadfuls" -- sensationalist 19th-century British publications -- the TV show sees Timothy Dalton, Eva Green, Josh Hartnett and Harry Treadaway in Victorian Britain uniting against supernatural forces. The Emmy-nominated series features well-known literary characters such as Dorian Gray, Count Dracula and Dr. Henry Jekyll.
In an interview on YouTube, co-creator John Logan explains "We knew where it was going and where we wanted to end it. It seemed the only place it could end," describing the finale as "great, sublime and horrible."
