RIO DE JANEIRO: Brazilian police on Thursday arrested former Botafogo footballer Jobson Leandro Pereira de Oliveira on suspicion of raping four girls aged between 12 and 14.
Police in Para in the north of the country said that an investigation was launched a week ago when a 13-year-old girl claimed that pornographic pictures of her were circulating on social media.
She alleged that Jobson, 28, had driven her and three other girls to a party at his house where they were given alcohol, drugged and raped.
"The four are adolescents — one of them is going to be 13, one is already 13 and the other two are 14 ... he attracted teenagers to parties with alcohol and drugs," said police commissioner Rodrigo da Motta.
Police said that the 14-year-olds admitted to consensual sex but that they were under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time.
Jobson is currently without a club having been suspended until 2019 for refusing to take a drugs test while playing for Al-Ittihad in Saudi Arabia. — AFP
