PETALING JAYA: Bukit Gasing assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran has taken Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) contractors to task for their shoddy work in resurfacing roads after the completion of piping projects.
Rajiv said a case in point is the stretch of road in front of the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Inai Court apartment in Jalan Templer, here where the road is uneven.
"The road was dug by the contractor to lay down some pipes for the sewage system to which the residents have no issue, it is just the way the contractor resurfaced the road which has caused much inconvenience to residents here and other road users," Rajiv told reporters during a press conference earlier today.
To make matter worse, Rajiv said that although these contractors have been issued with nine stop work orders within the span of one and a half years, they still failed to learn their lesson.
"When these orders were issued, the contractors would immediately rectify the issue but once the orders were lifted, then they would continue with the job and eventually repeat the same mistake again.
"Thus, to ensure these contractors really learn their lesson, IWK as the project management consultant should enhance their supervision and monitoring over these contractors and not make any payment to them unless a proper job is done," he said.
