PEKAN: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today urged Malaysians to reject anti-Islam groups and their collaborators to safeguard the Islamic faith.
"We cannot compromise on the Islamic struggle in this blessed land. We reject those who dislike Islam and know who they are and their collaborators.
"It is our obligation as Muslims to strive for authentic Islam, the real Islam which is not extreme or liberal, a moderate Islam," he told reporters at a breaking of fast with local community leaders and civil servants at Masjid Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Haj, here today.
The event was also attended by the prime minister's wife, Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, daughter Nooryana Najawa, son-in-law Daniyar Kesikkba and State Dakwah Islamiah and Special Functions Committee chairman Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad.
Najib said Muslims in this country should also respect other religions by showing the good brought by Islam to earn their respect.
He called on Muslims to exploit the last 10 nights of Ramadan with prayers to enhance their devotion to Allah.
Muslims should learn from history where Prophet Muhammad achieved much success in battle during the month of Ramadan despite the hunger and thirst.
"Being hungry need not necessarily make Muslims weak. What is important is to keep the devotion and success will follow.
"Armed with this package, insya Allah, we will succeed, not only during Ramadan but also at all times," he added.
At the event, Najib who was clad in baju melayu and sarong, gave away contribution to 61 recipients comprising 25 students of Maahad Tahfiz Tengku Ampuan Afzan and 36 people from Pekan parliamentary constituency. — Bernama
