KUALA LUMPUR: Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak (pix) has expressed full support for Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman's statement on Umno supreme council's decision to sack Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir from the party for indiscipline.
Musa, who is also Sabah Umno liaison committee chairman, was quoted as saying over the weekend that Sabah Umno unanimously supported the move as well as endorsed the decision to suspend Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal for the same reason.
"No one is above the party's constitution. If a leader or a member goes against it then approriate action must be taken for the good of the party," he said after attending a breaking-fast reception with Sabah students of tertiary education institutions and universities, organised by Sabah Foundation here on Monday night. Musa was also present.
On the decision of Semporna Umno division vice-chief Datuk Dr Jaujan Sambakong, leaders of three wings and 300 branch chiefs to resign en bloc from the party on Monday, Salleh urged party members to remain calm.
"Leaders come and go, but because of the loyalty of Umno members to the party, Umno remains strong," said Salleh, who is also Sabah Umno liaison committee deputy chairman. — Bernama
