Najib brings cheer to occupants of Al-Fikrah Care Centre

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak today sprang a surprise and brought cheer to the occupants of Al-Fikrah Care Centre here when he turned up and settled their bills when they shopped at the 1Malaysia People Textile Shop (KKR1M) in Bandar Tun Hussein Onn, Cheras near here.
Clad in casual white shirt and black pants, the prime minister arrived at the shop at 5 pm and was welcomed by KKR1M chief executive officer and chairman Mohd Noor Mohd Amin and the staff.
Joy was clearly written on the faces of the occupants, not only because they had the opportunity to choose their own outfits for Raya, but also able to personally thanked the prime minister for the treat.
Najib said he would strive to ensure the sustenance and the blessings bestowed by Allah would be shared with all the people.
"Today, you will get to choose your outfits for Raya and purchase whatever items you need to celebrate Aidilfitri," he told the occupants in his speech.
"After visiting them (at the centre), I realise that they rarely able to go out even for a sight seeing, that is why I want to give them the chance to really enjoy celebrating Syawal as a family," he said.
In the spirit of Ramadan and while celebrating the arrival of Syawal, the prime minister said one should always try to strengthen their relationship with others, especially with those who are less fortunate.
"May this year's Aidilfitri will be more meaningful for those in Al-Fikrah," said Najib who spent almost an hour with the occupants.
Meanwhile, one of the occupants, Maakip Waakub, told Bernama that he was so happy to have the prime minister chose for him a pair of Baju Melayu to wear on Hari Raya.
"Alhamdulillah, I love this pink Baju Melayu he chose for me to wear on Hari Raya," he said.
The Al-Fikrah Care Centre provides aid and care for less fortunate individuals, including persons with disabilities and youths who had lost their home, as well as recovering patients or those receiving follow-up treatments.
At present, the centre has 73 occupants, aged between 24 and 92. — Bernama
