Fallen crane nearly crushes bus and 2 other vehicles

KUALA LUMPUR: Road users and passengers in a RapidKL bus cheated death when the boom of a crane fell on the bus and two other vehicles in Jalan Pahang, here today.
A city Fire and Rescue Department spokesman in a statement said the department received a distress call at 7.15pm and seven personnel from the Setapak fire and rescue station were dispatched to the scene.
"The cable holding the boom snapped causing the latter to fall on the bus and two other vehicles," he said.
Meanwhile, Mohd Ashralf, 35, who was on his way to a shopping mall when the incident occurred, described it as a shocking mishap.
"The incident resulted in traffic in Jalan Pahang and Jalan Genting Klang coming to a standstill.
"The boom hit the middle portion of the bus and two other vehicles ," he told theSun.
Cassandra Raj, 21, a college student, and one of the drivers of the affected cars, said the incident should not have happened and safety standards need to be enhanced at these construction sites which are adjacent to busy roads.
No fatalities or injuries were reported in the incident.
