DAP, PH leaders and supporters gather outside Penang MACC office

GEORGE TOWN: Hundreds of supporters have gathered outside the Penang Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) headquarters to show their support for Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng who was arrested this evening.
They started gathering outside the building in Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah here as soon as news broke of the development.
The subdued atmosphere slowly but surely turned boisterous as sporadic shouts of "Bebas Guan Eng" (Free Guan Eng) turned into chants which rang around the business district.
A rendition of popular Hokkien song "Ai Piah Kar Eh Iah" (Fight to Win) spontaneously broke out among the crowd to show solidarity with Lim.
Several state government leaders and Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders were also present.
Among them were Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Rashid Hasnon and Deputy Chief Minister II P. Ramasamy.
PH leaders spotted was Penang Amanah chairman and Parit Buntar MP Datuk Mujahid Yusof Rawa while Datuk Toh Kin Woon of Bersih was also present.
At time of writing, Betty Chew, Guan Eng's wife, was seen entering the building in a car.
It cannot be ascertain if Lim will be released tonight or be held until he is charged at the Penang Sessions Court tomorrow morning.
