Kidnappers release 10-year-old boy after RM100k ransom paid

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Kidnappers released a 10-year-old boy at a Chinese temple here after the mother is believed to be have paid RM100,000 in ransom.
The drama unfolded when the boy's nanny dropped him off at music classes in Taman Jernih, Changkat Muhibbah here about 3pm on Wednesday.
According to a source, three suspects, all using face masks, approached the car and also blocked the victim from entering the premises.
They then grabbed the boy and forced him into a waiting car before tossing a handphone into the nanny's car and escaping.
The nanny then lodged a report on the matter,
The source revealed that the kidnappers later contacted the victim's mother through the handphone and demanded for RM100,000 ransom.
The victim's father, who is a "Datuk" was overseas on a business trip.
"We believe the mother paid the ransom as the boy was found about 12am today at a Chinese temple in Alma, near here," added the source.
When contacted, Penang Criminal Investigation Department chief SAC Datuk Razarudin Husain @ Abdul Rasid confirmed the case but said that police had not received police report from the parent over the matter.
Therefore, he was not sure whether any ransom had been paid to the suspect.
