Terengganu JPAM mobilises 90 members for 'Ops Bantu' during Aidilfitri

    KEMAMAN: The Civil Defence Department (JPAM) in Terengganu has started to mobilise a total of 90 members to serve on the 'Ops Bantu' in conjunction with the Aidilfitri celebration this year.
    Terengganu Civil Defence director, Lt Col (PA) Che Adam A. Rahman said since Friday, personnel have been assigned to conduct patrols and assist motorists using the Federal and State Roads who were facing difficulties.
    "In Terengganu, the civil defence set up two special groups to monitor the situation on the East Coast Expressway Phase 2 (LPT2) that is at the exit in Chukai here and the exit at Bukit Besi in Dungun.
    "Every day 12 members of the Civil Defence Department will be ready in two locations in two shifts that is from 4pm to 12 midnight and 8am to 4pm," he told reporters today.
    Meanwhile, a check by Bernama at the exit in Chukai found a civil defence patrol team and paramedics with an ambulance at the site to render assistance in the event of an accident in the vicinity of LPT2.
    Kemaman District civil defence volunteer, Private (PA) Siti Aisyah Mohamed said so far, the flow of traffic from both directions was smooth and under control.
    "This morning, we received news of only one accident case involving a car that crashed itself on Km288.8 near Kijal.
    "Besides helping motorists involved in road accidents, we are also prepared to serve motorists facing any other problems or obstacles on the road," he said. — Bernama
