PETALING JAYA: Angered by a Singaporean comedian who made fun of the Malaysian prime minister in a joke, Wilayah Persekutuan Umno Youth (PPUWP) has called for the stand-up comedian to be barred from entering the country.
In a video clip which went viral, the comedian, Fakkah Fuzz, had made certain jokes which did not go down well with Malaysians, causing many to take to the social media to vent their frustrations.
PPUWP chief Mohd Razlan Muhammad Rafii claimed that the group was "deeply affected" by Fakkah's distasteful satire and urged the Home Ministry to block him from coming into Malaysia.
"Our country will not experience even the slightest loss if we keep people like him out of Malaysia," he said in a statement on Sunday.
He advised Fakkah to look into the problems faced by Malays in Singapore before insulting a Malaysian leader who has done a lot for the different races in Malaysia and other Asian countries.
Similarly, the Selangor Umno Youth also called for the comedian to be banned from the country, saying he should not meddle in the current affairs of Malaysia.
Its chief Zainuri Zainal lashed out at the comedian for resorting to targeting the leader of a neighbouring country, calling the joke "immature".
Fakkah posted an apology video on his Facebook page on Saturday, after receiving flak from netizens.
"I would like to sincerely apologise if I unintentionally hurt my brothers and sisters across the causeway," he said, urging the public not to take his words "out of context" as he never meant to slander anyone.
"Having said that, everyone needs to open their minds, be a little less sensitive and learn to take a joke once in a while," he added.
In defending his statement, the entertainer said it was simply "a joke based on current events" and political satire should not be taken seriously.
"So I hope you guys can find it in your heart to chill a bit and just enjoy the next time I post something up. If you love it, great. Dont like it, just click away."
Fakkah has since taken down the original video.
