KUALA LUMPUR: It was a walk in the park for two robbers who struck the Road Transport Department's (RTD) Wangsa Maju branch and escaped with RM754,000 of the day's takings yesterday.
Lax security at the RTD branch, with apparently only a female Rela member guarding the place, made it easy for the robbers to gain entry through an unlocked door at 5.45pm.
Kuala Lumpur police CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa said two staff from the accounts department were counting the cash when the parang-wielding robbers barged in.
He said the robbers fled after grabbing the cash, leaving the staff shaken but unharmed.
Police are yet to ascertain how the robbers fled with the huge bundle of cash and are examining a video recording retrieved from a closed-circuit security camera of the RTD branch.
Rusdi urged those with information to contact the KL police hotline at 03-21159999.
