Press Digest - After Movida, IS member threatens another attack

PETALING JAYA: In a Facebook Messenger interview with Oriental Daily News not long after the attack on the Movida pub in Puchong, Islamic State (IS) member Muhammad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi spoke of a second terror attack to come.
Muhammad Wanndy, who used his alias Abu Hamzah Al-fateh on Facebook, warned that the Puchong attack on June 28 was just the beginning and that the second one will follow to prove that IS is everywhere in Malaysia, the daily reported today.
Following the attack, Orient Daily managed to contact Muhammad Wanndy on Facebook and in their Messenger exchanges that followed, the IS member, who is believed to be giving orders from Syria, made a number of threats, including warning the Chinese not to insult Islam.
As the content of the "interview" involved national security, the daily forwarded it to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar in the first instance and, as instructed by police, withheld the "conversation" with the terrorist until police rounded up 15 suspects who were taking orders from Muhammad Wanndy.
Muhammad Wanndy said the Puchong attack was in response to a challenge from Khalid, adding that it was a warning to the IGP not to publicly challenge IS's capability.
"We will launch a second terror attack. You tell the IGP that we are not joking (kami tidak main main)."
Muhammad Wanndy pointed out that IS attacked the pub with only eight customers because it did not want to cause many casualties but to send a
warning to the IGP that IS has members throughout the country.
Asked by the daily if the second attack may not be in Selangor or Kuala Lumpur, Muhammad Wanndy said, "maybe, let's wait and see".
He wanted the daily to advise the Chinese in Malaysia to not insult Islam, saying Islam teaches Muslims to live in harmony with people of other religions, but if there is another Alvin Tan (sex blogger) insult on Islam publicly, IS will act.
Asked by Oriental Daily for comment on Muhammad Wanndy's threat of a second attack, the IGP said police will not take it likely and will do its utmost to safeguard the country and protect the people.
