PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak (pix) has condemned the suicide attacks on three cities in Saudi Arabia.
Najib described such attacks as deviating from the teachings of Islam, especially as the perpetrators had put Medina city in the list of the terror attacks.
Medina is considered the second holiest city in Islam as it contains the Masjid al-Nabawi (Prophet's Mosque), which is the burial place of Prophet Muhammad.
"This morning, I am again shocked to receive alerts on bombings rocking three cities across Saudi Arabia.
"We condemn such vile acts happening especially within the Prophet's Mosque vicinity in the holy city of Medina & this is not Islam," Najib said this in his Twitter today.
At least four people were killed in the attack by a suicide bomber in Medina, with an explosion occurring in the vicinity of the Prophet's Mosque.
The two other attacks occurred in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, near the US consulate, and in Qatif, a Shiite-dominated area.
It was reported that the attack in Medina occurred during sunset prayers after Muslims break their fast.
No party has claimed responsibility for the attacks, but many are pointing fingers at the Islamic State for the deadly blasts.
