ALOR STAR: In a move to ensure the availability of sufficient water supply, the Kedah Government has instructed Syarikat Air Darul Aman (SADA) to conduct a study on the rate of water usage during the Aidilfitri festive season.
Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah (pix) said the study would enable SADA to gauge the actual rate of water usage during the festive season as an increase of water usage was found to occur during that period.
"It (SADA) needs to know the actual amount of water needed for festive seasons to ensure sufficient supply.
"It is normal to see an increase in water usage during the festive season as many would have returned to their hometowns by then.
"Thus, if necessary, SADA needs to increase the number of contractors to facilitate the delivery of water supply to areas affected by low water pressure.
"However, SADA needs to ensure all appointed contractors do their job and not just sit on their laurels," he told reporters when officiating the 'Bantuan Rakyat Kedah' (Barakah) Raya Beef Festival 2016 programme at Stadium Darul Aman here yesterday.
The programme involves the sale of beef from 210 cows throughout the state at a cheaper price than those sold in big supermarkets. It is priced at RM22 a kilogramme, with each person limited to a purchase of two kilogrammes. — Bernama
