KUALA LUMPUR: A lunch outing for a real estate agent and her family ended in tragedy when she was shot dead at close range earlier this afternoon.

Kuala Lumpur CID chief SAC Rusdi Mohd Isa told reporters that the incident happened at 2.30pm when the victim and her five children aged between 2 and 13 years old along with a maid just finished having their lunch at a nearby restaurant at Overseas Union Garden.

"The victim was about to move her car when two suspects on a motorcycle stopped and fired at least five shots at close range with one of it hitting the victim's neck.

"As a result, the victim died at the scene and one of the victim's daughter also got hurt in the process and she was sent to University Malaya Medical Centre for further treatment," Rusdi said.

He added that police are yet to determine the motive of the shooting.

"At the same time, we would also be getting some closed-circuit television footage from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to assist in the investigation.

"We also call on public members who had any information on the incident to come forward to assist us," he said.
