Penang denies banning ad for nun comedy

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has brushed off allegations that they banned digital advertisements of a comedy show featuring nuns.
Council secretary Ang Aing Thye said the council did not receive an application from the theatre producer of "Nunsense" for the advertisement promoting the show.
He however said he would look into the matter and see if an application had in fact been submitted.
Ang however stressed that religious sensitivities must be adhered to.
He was speaking to the media at the Georgetown Heritage celebrations launch ceremony which was also attended by Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng in Lebuh Acheh today.
Ang's comments comes after the producer of the comedy said Kuala Lumpur City Hall and MBPP had refused to grant permission for digital advertisements promoting the show.
The 20-second video advertisement of "Nunsense" is meant for digital billboards and features actors garbed in nun habits.
