TEGUCIGALPA: The murder of a radio presenter in Honduras has raised the number of slain media workers in the Central American country to 65 over the past 13 years, a non-governmental group said Friday.
Henry Robert Reyes, 33, was shot twice in the chest on Tuesday as he was riding his motorcycle during a reporting assignment in central Honduras, the group, C-Libre, said in a statement.
The assailants also stole his motorbike.
Reyes worked for the radio station Stereo Control in the town of Jesus de Otoro, northwest of the capital Tegucigalpa.
According to C-Libre, 62 media workers have been killed since 2009, with another three recorded between 2003 and 2009.
The group started tallying such deaths in 2003.
All but four of the murders have gone unpunished. — AFP
