List of shootings in the country as of July

1. Jan 25: A 40-year-old contractor said to be linked to a notorious underworld gang was shot dead by a gunman minutes after a discussion with two men at Jinjang Selatan. The victim who was seated in his car and sustained gunshots on his face and chest was killed at the scene on Jalan 13/32 at about 2pm
2. Feb 11: A 46-year-old nasi kandar restaurant owner died after being shot at point-blank range at Jalan Datuk Keramat in Penang. In the 3.30am incident, the victim died on the spot after he was shot five times on his body, arm and head.
3. May 25: A man was shot while walking towards a kindergarten to pick up his children, managed to hop into his car and drive to the University Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) for treatment. In the 11.30am incident at Jalan Selangor in Petaling Jaya, the 41-year-old man was trailed by two men on a motorcycle, when he alighted from his vehicle, the suspects approached and fired two shots at him.
4. June 21: Miri PKR branch secretary Bill Kayong, 43, who contested for the Bekenu seat in the recent Sarawak state election, was shot dead by a gunman in Miri. Kayong, who had pulled over his Toyota Hilux pick-up truck at the traffic lights in Lutong, was killed by a single shot fired from a shotgun. He was found slumped in the driver's seat with injuries on his face and neck at about 8.30am.
5. June 29: A 40-year-old general manager of a health and wellness equipment company survived five gunshots fired by a gunman while driving along Km3.5 of the KL-Seremban highway. The victim who sustained gunshot wounds to his hand, chest and neck was reported to be in stable condition at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in Cheras. The manager had just minutes earlier left his house at Desa Petaling and was heading to his office in his car when two men on a motorcycle rode up to the driver's side of the vehicle before opening fire.
