Bus rams 10 cars on PLUS Highway

IPOH: Police are looking for the driver of a speeding bus who rammed into 10 cars at Km265.8 of the south bound lane on the North South Expressway (PLUS) near Menora Tunnel near Jelapang here yesterday.
Perak Traffic chief Supt Wan Jamil Wan Chik said: "We will detain him to facilitate investigation."
Initial investigation revealed the bus knocked into the first two cars before it rammed into other vehicles at 5.22pm.
The impact of the crash caused the pileup when the vehicles were slow moving.
Wan Jamil said several vehicle owners lodged police reports at Ipoh traffic branch.
Police are conducting investigation.
The accident posted on the social media showed the bus negotiating a corner going through in the middle of the lane and knocking the cars.
A Bernama report quoted Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (North Zone) highway commander ASP Hazil Reza Mohd Ghazali saying the technical fault was likely to have caused the accident which occurred about 3pm.
The report also quoted Perak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Superintendent Wan Jamil Wan Chik who said all 28 passengers onboard and the driver were safe.
Meanwhile, a PLUS spokesman said the accident had reduced traffic to a crawl over a 11km stretch, adding that vehicles involved in the accident were removed about 4.30pm, from the site.
