Taman OUG shooting victim received death threats before incident

KUALA LUMPUR: The husband of murdered real estate agent Datin Wong Siu Ling, who was shot dead in Taman OUG here last week, had lodged a police report after receiving threats from a businessman about three months ago.
Kuala Lumpur Deputy CID chief ACP Mohd Hanafiah Arshad said police are looking for a businessman who allegedly made the threats against Wong's family.
"The case was classified as criminal intimidation and we are trying to trace him to record a statement," said Mohd Hanafiah.
"The threat was over a business-related matter. But we are investigating every possible aspect that can lead us to solving the murder case, not merely business as the motive," he told theSun.
The shooting occurred last Wednesday when Wong was driving her Toyota Vellfire with her five children aged between two and 13 and their maid along rows of shophouses on Jalan Hujan Emas 4.
A motorcyclist and his pillion rider rode up to the driver's side and opened fire.
Wong died on the spot from a gunshot wound in her neck. Her eight-year-old daughter, who was in the front passenger seat, was critically injured with a bullet slug lodged in her liver.
Mohd Hanafiah said the child is now reported to be in stable condition but remains in the intensive care unit after undergoing two surgeries at the University Malaya Medical Centre.
Based on witnesses' accounts, police believe the killers had waited near the crime scene for the victim's car to pass.
Wong, who earlier had lunch at a nearby restaurant, was to leave for Penang for a holiday with her children and maid when the incident occurred.
Police have questioned several people who they believe could shed light into the case, but there have been no positive developments so far.
