35 bus and lorry drivers get summonses in 'Op Selamat' at Bukit Gantang

BUKIT GANTANG: Thirty-five summonses were issued to errant bus and lorry drivers in 'Op Selamat' 9/2016 at Km225.2 of the North-South Expressway (southbound), near the Bukit Gantang R&R area, on Tuesday night.
ASP Hazil Reza Mohd Ghazali, North Zone Expressway commander, Bukit Aman traffic investigation and enforcement department, said among the offences were for speeding, overloading (for lorries) and driving with expired licence.
He said in the 9.30pm to midnight operation, involving 35 policemen besides Plus Bhd personnel, 35 buses and 70 lorries were inspected.
"Two of the lorry drivers were detained after they tested positive for cannabis use," he told reporters at the end of the operation.
He said traffic police operation focused on buses and lorries as these commercial vehicles were often involved in road accidents. — Bernama
