KUALA LUMPUR: A couple high on drugs caused a stir when they attempted to trespass a police security checkpoint at the Bukit Aman police headquarters here on Tuesday.
The couple, who arrived in a red Honda CRZ Hybrid car at about 10pm, told policemen on guard duty that they wanted to go through the guard post.
Several policemen immediately managed to apprehend the man and persuaded him to surrender himself.
Dang Wangi district police chief ACP Zainol Samah said soon after the suspect was detained, the police searched the couple and their vehicle and found seven firecrackers in his backpack.
"The couple were high on drugs and tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine," Zainol said in a statement today.
Sources said initial investigation revealed that the couple identified themselves as anti-narcotics police officers from the Kajang district police headquarters and requested the guards to let them through Bukit Aman police headquarters's gate A.
"The couple failed to provide police authorisation documents when requested by the guards," the source said, adding that the suspects had no previous criminal records.
It is learnt that the woman claimed to be a doctor from Kuantan while the man was unemployed.
Zainol added the suspects have been remanded for three days and police had opened investigation papers under Section 448/511 of the Penal Code for trying to breach into a building, Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957 and Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
