Two tele-based direct selling company directors charged in court

BUTTERWORTH: Two telecommunication-based enterprise directors and their company were charged in the Sessions Court here today for failing to fulfil two conditions stipulated in their direct selling licence.
C. Sivanesan, 37, and J. Clement Raj, 35, as directors of Wow Mobile Asia Sdn Bhd separately claimed trial to one charge of failing to display the licence at the company's premises for public notice and reference.
They also separately claimed trial to a second charge of failing to provide a print out of their direct selling licence number for the public to refer.
Both stand accused of committing the two offences at Wow Mobile Asia Sdn Bhd, No 40, 3rd Floor in Jalan Todak 2, Bandar Sunway, Seberang Jaya here at 11.30am on July 28 last year.
The charges under Section 6(4) of the Direct Selling Act and Anti-Pyramid Scheme Act 1993, read with Section 38 and punishable under 39(1) of the same Act, provide for a fine of not more than RM100,000 or maximum imprisonment of three years, or both.
Wow Mobile Asia Sdn Bhd, represented by its directors claimed trial to two similar charges allegedly committed at the same place, time and date.
Sessions Court judge Sitarun Nisa Abdul Aziz set Aug 17 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Mohd Kamil Khairodin represented the Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry while the accused have yet to engage a counsel. — Bernama
