Korean woman robbed and injured near KLCC

KUALA LUMPUR: A Korean woman suffered injuries and lost RM20,000 in cash and valuables to snatch thieves at Jalan Ampang, near the KLCC Twin Towers here on Sunday.
The victim who is in her 30's was walking along a pavement after shopping at the KLCC when snatch thieves on a motorcycle grabbed her sling bag.
The woman was dragged for several metres before the robbers fled with her bag.
She suffered bruises and a cut on her head that required stitches.
The foreigner who also lost her passport arrived in Malaysia a month ago had posted her ordeal on her Facebook account telling foreign netizens to reconsider visiting Malaysia.
Although it was not until yesterday that she lodged a police report, the woman in her Facebook post vented her frustrations by belittling the police, calling them "useless", and claimed "nurses who treated her were laughing" and not taking her seriously.
She ended here message saying: "All of this can be your story if you consider visiting Malaysia."
Kuala Lumpur police deputy CID chief ACP Mohd Hanafiah Arshad said the woman only lodged a police report yesterday after being advised by the Korean Embassy.
"She had gone to the embassy to get a replacement passport but they told her she can only be issued one if she made a police report. So, she made the report. We are investigating the case for robbery and are trying to trace the crooks involved," he told theSun.
It is learnt that the woman had lashed out on the police and medical staff who treated her due to language problems.
She apparently spoke a smattering of English to policemen at the hospital police beat base and left without lodging a police report.
