Man drinks Dettol to prove love for wife after a tiff

KOTA KINABALU: After a quarrel with a his wife, a man was said to try to kill himself yesterday by drinking a bottle of the antiseptic liquid, Dettol, to prove his love for her.
The incident took place at the couple's house in Taman Indah Permai, Manggatal, near here, at about 11.09pm.
Kota Kinabalu City police chief, ACP M. Chandra said the initial investigation found that the man, 40, had a quarrel with his wife and to prove his love for her, drank a small bottle of Dettol.
"Then he fainted and was sent to Likas Hospital by police," he said in a statement, here, today.
Chandra said that according to the preliminary report of the doctor who treated the man at the hospital's emergency ward, the victim was in stable condition and could return home soon after treatment.
The case is being investigated under Section 309 of the Penal Code for attempted suicide. — Bernama
