Wisma Putra confirms no Malaysians involved in terror attack in France

PETALING JAYA: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that no Malaysians were involved in the Bastille Day tragedy in Nice, France on Thursday.
"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirms that this far, no Malaysians were involved in the recent truck ramming incident during Bastille Day celebration in Nice, France on Thursday evening.
"The Embassy of Malaysia in Paris is in close contact with the local authorities to identify if any Malaysians were involved in the incident," the ministry said in a statement.
The Ministry also expressed its condolences to the families of those involved in the incident.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Students Association of France (MASAF) also confirmed that all 63 Malaysian students studying in Nice have been accounted for, and the majority are in Malaysia for their summer break.
"On behalf of every Malaysian student in France, I offer our deepest condolences to the loved ones of those who were killed and we pray for a speedy recovery to those who were injured," MASAF president Eva anak Unyat said in a statement on Facebook.
At least 84 people were killed in what has been described as a terrorist attack when a truck ploughed into a crowd of revelers celebrating the French National Day in the city of Nice.
