JKR: The road depicted in recent viral picture is safe

PETALING JAYA: An image that has gone viral on social media showing erosion of slopes along the Jalan Simpang Pulau-Caneron Highlands stretch of road on the North-South highway, is an old image according to the Perak Public Works Department.
In a statement released on its Facebook page said that the picture was taken from FT185, section 44 of the road in late 2014.
The department had confirmed that a board and pile retaining structure had been carried out at the location and it was completed early this year.
The Kinta branch of the works department had conducted a site visit today at the highway and they found that the road was still safe and can be used by vehicles.
The images of the slope erosion had gone viral on social media platforms which caused panic among netizens. But the works department has debunked the picture, saying that it was from 2014 which was making fresh rounds on social media.
