Langat 2 water treatment plant to be completed in Oct 2017

KUALA LUMPUR: The Langat 2 water treatment plant project is expected to be completed in October 2017, said Pengurusan Aset Air Berhad (PAAB), chief executive officer Datuk Ahmad Faizal Abdul Rahman.
He said the project managed by PAAB is now 50 per cent complete and the installation of 42km of pipeline is expected be carried out on time.
"The project is progressing well, maybe there might be a few hiccups during the pipe installation process on the streets and in residential areas," he told reporters after a PAAB Aidilfitri open house, here.
On April 1, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali blamed former Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for the delay of the Langat 2 project for allegedly being responsible for the sale of land to develop sludge facilities to third parties.
According to Mohamed Azmin, PAAB had to plan again the construction of Langat 2 and to find a new site to build the sludge facilities, thus delaying the project.
Ahmad Faizal said various public development projects in Selangor will also be continued when the Langat 2 project is completed.
"Before this, many new government projects had to be halted because the Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor (Syabas) couldn't supply water to the area," he said.
