PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak has reminded government servants to not lose focus in their efforts to champion the rakyat.
Speaking at the Prime Minister's Department (JPM) Hari Raya celebration today, he said it was essential that all government officers focus their attention on people-centric matters such as public transportation, housing and cost of living.
"These are the things we must give priority to and never lose focus. Whatever we do, we do it for the rakyat.
"And these priorities for the rakyat must always be at the forefront of every government policy," he said during the celebration, which was also attended by several ministers, deputy ministers and some 3,000 JPM staff.
Najib, who attended with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, said recent announcements by the government pertaining to the country's public transportation are indications of the country's progress.
"Initiatives such as the Light Rail Transit (LRT) extension, Mass Rapid Transit (MRT), and the High Speed Rail announced yesterday (Tuesday) will benefit the rakyat and the country. This proves we are moving forward," he said.
He added that the nation's security, which has been a huge challenge to the government in recent months, also needed attention and has to be taken care of.
He also extended his appreciation to all civil servants for their continuous effort in ensuring the country's development, adding that today's celebration was also to appreciate their work.
Other ministers who were present at the event were Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek and Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.
