PETALING JAYA: Police are taking precautions to ensure no untoward incident takes place during Selena Gomez's The Revival Tour concert at Stadium Melawati on July 25.
Selangor deputy police chief DCP Datuk Mohd Fuad Abdul Latiff said police will ensure the safety and peace of all attendees.
"We will continue to keep a look out even if the concert is cancelled," he said.
Mohd Fuad said the decision to cancel the event was not up to the police.
"Our main priority is ensuring the safety of concert-goers and make sure security is tight," he said.
Meanwhile, Shah Alam police chief ACP Shafien Mamat said the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) does not support the concert to be held.
"We are currently still waiting for the local council to give us the green light so we can deploy police personnel to the venue," he said.
On Monday, PAS Islamic Dakwah Bureau chairman Hafez Sabri expressed his disapproval of the American singer's "sexy" appearance, which he said would "contaminate" the month of Syawal and encourage hedonism among Malaysian youth.
Hafez also urged the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) to bar Gomez from entering the country and said the government should follow the strict guidelines issued by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) when approving concerts.
