N. Sembilan health department issued 36 notices to smokers

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan Health Department has issued 36 notices against individuals identified to have violated the Control of Tobacco Product Regulations 2004 in an operation here, last Monday.
State Health Director Dr Abdul Rahim Abdullah said the notices were issued under Section 32B of the regulations.
He said the operation was carried out to ensure no individuals smoke in the non-smoking zone under the Article 11 (1) and to ensure that every owner of the premises put up 'banning smoking' signs in accordance with the Article 12 (1)(a) under the same law.
"The Health Department will always enforce the rules for the sake of the public health," he said in a statement here, today.
The four-hour operations involved 14 premises, comprising government premises, public transport stops, hospitals, petrol stations, and shopping complexes around Seremban starting at 9.30am.
The operations was participated by 23 personnel from the state Health Department Legal and Inspectorate Unit and Jelebu, Kuala Pilah, Tampin, Seremban, Port Dickson dan Jempol Health District Offices. — Bernama
