BUKIT BERUNTUNG: An Uzbekistan woman was severely injured after being robbed and dumped into a ravine by a rogue cabbie at Bukit Sentosa here early today.
It is learnt that the 23-year-old woman who was apparently drunk had earlier boarded the cabbie's red taxi after visiting a pub at the KLCC in Kuala Lumpur to return to her condominium home nearby.
However, she was driven to Bukit Beruntung by the crooked cabbie who stole her handbag and cellphone before pushing her out of his taxi.
The woman told police that she tried to chase the taxi but the driver fled. However, the cabbie returned moments later and pushed her into the ravine before leaving.
The foreigner suffered a fractured spine and was believed to be left for dead in the ravine for hours before passers-by spotted her and called the police at about 9.30am.
Hulu Selangor police chief Supt R. Subramaniam said police rushed to the scene and found the injured victim in the drain near Jalan Jenjarum 1C.
He said police called for an ambulance that took the woman to hospital.
He also said efforts to trace the taxi driver are ongoing.
Today's robbery was the second case involving a rogue cabbie this week.
On Monday, a 28-year-old woman was injured and lost RM1,500 after she was robbed at knife-point by the driver of a taxi she boarded in SS16, Subang Jaya.
The woman was on her way to the Empire Shopping Gallery not far from where she took the taxi, a Proton Wira, at about 9am when the cabbie whipped out a knife and placed it on her ear just before she arrived her destination.
The cabbie also pointed another object that looked like a pistol at the woman. After robbing her, the man drove her to a post office nearby and dropped her off before fleeing.
Police said investigations are ongoing to determine if both cases are the work of the same perpetrator.
