NS RTD to charge 57 motorists in court next month for using emergency lane

    SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department (RTD) are expected to charge 57 road users at the Seremban Magistrates Court next month for using the emergency lane on the highway throughout Ops Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2016.
    State Road Transport Department chief (Enforcement) Rosilan Md Sari said all offenders were issued summons on the spot at the time of the offence while another 47 offenders would be called for an interview session.
    "These offenders on the other hand were traced by the RTD personnel who had disguised and taken photographs when the offence was committed," he told reporters at the state RTD Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house, here, today.
    Rosilan said 60 members of the public had reported such offences.
    "We will filter all these reports. Information that was submitted must come complete with pictures, location and time. If it's not complete, their reports will be rejected," he said adding that other than cars, small lorries
    and buses had also abused the emergency lane.
    Rosilan said the state RTD had also issued 122 summons for various offences, especially to 34 express bus drivers.
    "Among the offences included smoking while driving, using mobile phones, driving on the right lane, dropping off passengers at prohibited locations, not keeping tab of the log book and driving without a
    second driver," he said.
    He added that the summons were issued by 14 RTD personnel who had disguised as passengers onboard 43 express buses. — Bernama
