Classical Feng Shui - Filling in the missing corner

21 Jul 2016 / 17:06 H.

THE missing corner is a favourite topic in feng shui. It refers to portions of a property that is missing. Seriously, missing corners in a property can potentially create problems for the occupants.
What is a missing corner? It refers a house that is not rectangle or square in shape, hence it has a missing corner or protrusion.
But how much missing is consider seriously missing? Technically speaking, a little missing is still missing but if the missing portion is small, the effect, if any, is insignificant.
On the other hand, if the missing portion is more than a third of the length and width of the property, than it is consider seriously missing and can potentially cause problems.
What kind of potential problems can these seriously missing corners cause? Let me illustrate with an example. In the bagua, the SW is associated with the mother while the NW with the father.
Therefore, a seriously missing corner in the SW can impact the wife or the older lady in a household. Similarly, a missing corner in the northwest can affect the father or elderly man.
The SW is also associated with stomach ailment. Therefore the occupants living in a house with the SW corner seriously missing can potential have incidents of stomach problems.
By the same token, the NW which is associated with the head and brain, if missing, can result in head or mental problems for the occupants.
Actually by just having a missing corner is usually not enough to cause a problem. However, if the sector is also afflicted by say a sha - such as high tension pylon - then the chance of it happening is greatly magnified.
The sectors of the house is not just assocaited with with members of the family or body parts. There are a lot more associations. For example the SE sector is also asscoaited with kindness. Therefore, if the SE sector of a house is missing and there is a sha affliction, such as a T-junction at the SE, then it may explain why a certain member or a few of the family members are particularly unkind.
All of us have a Gua number which is derived from our Chinese Solar year of birth. Each of these 9 Gua number is also associated with a sector. For example, Gua 7 with the West, Gua 3 with the East, etc.
If you are a Gua 8 person, your own sector is the NE. If it is missing and/or is affected by a sha, then your luck is impacted.
This is one of the reason why feng shui practitioners will go through great length to ensure that a house do not have missing corners. Also that they are not afflcited by shas and if they are, then to come out with remedies to resolve it by either blocking, softening or deflecting these shas.
That is not the end of the story. Gua 8 is also associated withe Star 8. In Flying Star feng shui, the Star 8 is the current auspicious star (2004 to 2024). A practitioner will go through great length to ensure that this star is at the important areas of the house, such as facing Star 8 at the door and sitting Star 8 in the bedroom.
But what if the NE sector which is associated with Star 8 is missing and/or is affected by a sha? The result is your highly auspicioius Star 8 is weakened. By how much? It depends on the missing corner and the sha affliction. A seriously missing corner will affect the auspicious Star 8 more, compared to the case with just a very small missing corner.
Star 1 in the current period is the distant future prosperity star. Its home sector is North. I will assume that it does not have a missing corner or attacked by any shas. If in addition, the north sector in this case has a clean pond with lush vegetation and generally good looking, then your Star 1 is enhanced and it becomes a highly usable star in the current period.
Lastly, I would like to share a table showing the association of the Gua with the star number, members of the family, body parts and emotions for your better understanding of the subject.
