KUANTAN: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah (pix) said he was ready to meet with Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar to resolve the quandary in the organisation.
"Anytime will do," he said when met after the Pahang Excellence Awards ceremony and Khatam Hafazan Al-Quran Maahad Tahfiz 2016 here, last night.
He was asked to comment on Khairy's statement that he was waiting to meet with Tengku Abdullah who is also Tengku Mahkota of Pahang, next week.
The meeting is a follow up to the quagmire over four Johor Darul Takzim players' decision to quit the national squad and the claim by Tunku Mahkota of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim about having evidence of misconduct in FAM.
Khairy Jamaluddin had also disclosed that he had already met with Tunku Ismail last week and would find a way to resolve the issue after meeting with Tengku Abdullah.
Asked on Tunku Ismail's claim about having a pendrive in his possession containing certain information about corruption in the FAM, Tengku Abdullah declined to elaborate.
"You have to ask the person who has the pendrive," he replied.
Last week, four JDT football players, Safiq Rahim, Aidil Zafuan Abdul Razak, S.Kunanlan and Amirul Hadi Zainal announced their decision to no longer don the Harimau Malaya jersey.
Tunku Ismail had said in a statement that the national squad programme and FAM's irresponsible attitude besides the association's alleged involvement in corruption, had led the four players to quit the national squad. — Bernama
