90% of society under non verbal communication influence: Zahid

KOTA BELUD: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said more than 90% of the society are under the influence of non verbal communication.
He noted that the situation was vastly different in the old days where 'face to face' was the dominant form of communication.
He said the glaring transformation in communication among the society showed the importance of internet accessibility and its influence on human behaviour.
"In such circumstances, many look for faults instead of truth. Many are prioritising falsehood rather than veracity.
"Meaning, when falsehood overtakes veracity, the world will be doomed," he said while speaking at Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia's Aidilfitri open house at Kampung Rampayan Laut near here, today.
The gathering was attended by about thirty thousand residents and Sabah leaders including Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman, Communciation and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan and Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Madius Tangau.
Ahmad Zahid said the people should be cautious against the influence of non verbal communication which could be liberally misused to circulate aspersions among the society.
Based on the teachings of Islam, he said, Allah would not forgive a person who falsely testifies against another unless the victim chooses to forgive the offender.
Ahmad Zahid also complimented the people of Kota Belud on having national-calibre leaders such as Pandikar, Salleh and Abdul Rahman who he said could be trusted to bring progress not only to Sabah but the nation as a whole.
Meanwhile, Musa in his speech said the state government would continue to give its undivided support to the federal government in any action it took to combat terrorism in Sabah. — Bernama
