Four drowned, 33 others rescued in Kota Tinggi boat incident

    KOTA TINGGI: Four Indonesians including three women died when a boat they were in capsized at Pantai Batu Layar, near Pengerang here at about 11pm on Saturday.
    The Operations Commander of the Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue Station, Azlan Mohd Sobri said 33 others including eight women survived the incident following a rescue operation mounted by the Search and Rescue(SAR) team led by Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
    Those rescued are being placed at the Tanjung Sepang Army Camp.
    The rescue team consists of 12 policemen from Kota Tinggi police station, 29 soldiers and Bandar Penawar Fire and Rescue department firemen.
    Tanjung Sedili Maritime District Director, Maritime Captain Amran Daud said the boat was believed to have attempted to enter Malaysia when the incident happened.
