KUALA LUMPUR: Come Oct 9, golf enthusiasts can enjoy a game of golf and at the same time, help raise funds to purchase dialysis machines to treat chronic kidney patients.
Former Damansara Rotary Club president P. Rajendran said they hoped to raise RM50,000 for a machine which will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation (NKF).
"This project is close to my heart because my father was affected with the ill-fated disease," he said, adding that another RM50,000 will also be raised via a charity golf tournament called "The Swing for Charity Golf", to be held at Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Resort.
Rajendran who was together with current president Anna P. Raj, said the money is also to buy a machine for NKF.
NKF chief executive officer Chua Hong Wee, who was also present at the press conference on Friday, said 60% of their 1,550 patients are diabetic, 20% with hypertension and the rest with other complications.
Those interested to donate towards the purchase of the machines can contact the event's organising chairman Richard Jacob at 012-2182401.
