PADANG TERAP: The Education Ministry will not tolerate teachers or students promoting terrorism activities.

Education Minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid said such people are very dangerous and used various new technologies to spread their ideology.

Citing the detention of 14 individuals in five states from July 14 to 20, on suspicion of being involved in Daesh, Mahdzir said the group moved very discreetly in local communities.

As such, he said teachers must always be alert to play their role in helping the government to provide information on the Daesh militant ideology among students.

"We want teachers to help the government to explain that the move to be with the Islamic State (IS) contradicts with Islam. In fact, worse are the killings," he told reporters after attending an Aidilfitri Open House at SMK Dato Syed Ahmad here, today.

In the meantime, the ministry, he said would direct its highest management to view aspects which could be inserted in school curriculum (to tackle the Daesh threat). — Bernama
