Gerakan Youth: PM 'wrongly advised' on 1MDB
PETALING JAYA: Gerakan Youth recently said they believe Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had been wrongly advised on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), leading to the current action by the United States Department of Justice.
"There have been many misleading reports and statements on social media on who is the 'Malaysian Official 1' as mentioned in US court documents. I believe the answer is obvious.
"I believe Najib's intention was good, but was somehow manipulated by certain people for their self-interest," said Gerakan Youth deputy chief Andy Yong (pix).
He said it was time for the premier to openly explain who the culprits were who played him out.
Responding to Yong's call, Selangor DAP secretary Eddie Ng said he (Yong) should lobby Gerakan leadership to push for the arrest of those responsible for the fiasco involving 1MDB.
"Yong should lead the party leadership, including Gerakan president Datuk Mah Siew Keong, to stand with the people and push for the culprits to be brought to book," he said.
He said Yong's statement should also encourage other Barisan Nasional component party leaders to accept the facts.
