Police arrest ninth suspect in real estate agent murder case

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a ninth suspect on Saturday in connection with the murder of real estate agent Datin Wong Siu Ling at Taman OUG on July 6.
Kuala Lumpur police chief commissioner Datuk Amar Singh Ishar Singh said today the 29-year-old man who is a factory worker was detained at Tampoi, Johor and is being held under a remand order until Thursday.
He said efforts to trace another suspect who is still at large is ongoing.
Amar Singh said the remand order on eight others aged between 26 and 54 who were held last week was extended today.
Police solved Wong's murder case last week with the arrest of two couples and four men including a businessman who allegedly plotted the killing and the hitman he hired to execute the murder.
Investigators discovered that Wong was killed as a result of her pursuit in recovering a RM13 million investment she and her businessman husband had given a businessman for a ceramic tile business venture that never kicked off.
On July 6, Wong who was in her car with her five children aged between two and 13 and a Filipino maid near a row of shophouses on Jalan Hujan Emas 4 was killed when a motorcyclist and his pillion rider rode up to the driver's side and opened fire.
Wong died on the spot from a gunshot wound in her neck while her eight-year-old daughter, who was in the front passenger seat, was critically injured with a bullet slug lodged in her liver.
The child remains warded at the University Malaya Medical Centre after undergoing two surgeries.
Wong was to leave for Penang for a holiday with her children and maid when the incident occurred.
