MCA: Justify the need for Penang snap poll

KUALA LUMPUR: MCA deputy president Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong (pix) said Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng should provide concrete justification for his proposal to hold snap polls in Penang.
Wee said Lim should not have snap polls merely to show that the public supports him.
"If you want to clear your name through the judicial system, please by all means do it via the proper channel instead of dragging the whole state into it by having a snap election," he told reporters during a press conference after chairing the Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs (SAME) Board of Advisors Meeting and Annual Report 2015 Review today.
By calling for the snap polls, he said Lim was merely trying to stir the emotions of the people following his corruption court case.
Wee also said that MCA would have a meeting to discuss possible candidates for the snap polls in the event Pakatan Harapan decides to go ahead with it.
"It is still too early for us to determine our candidates and we will wait for a concrete decision on whether the state legislative assembly is going to be dissolved," he said.
In the last general election, the MCA contested and lost 10 state seats in Penang.
