GEORGE TOWN: Gerakan has identified 13 seats and candidates to contest in Penang should the DAP-led government calls for a snap polls.
Party president Datuk Seri Mah Siew Keong (pix) said these seats and individuals to contest have already been identified but are still subjected to any possible adjustment.
He said the party's central working committee (CWC) will make the final decision on the candidates and the announcement would only be made after parties on the other side of the political divide reveal their candidates.
He also warned party members to abide by any decision made and not sabotage the leadership after the announcement.
"We will sack these people immediately if they sabotage (the leadership)," he said after paying his last respects to Puan Sri Chui Kah Peng, wife of former Gerakan president Tan Sri Dr. Koh Tsu Koon.
Mah, nonetheless, hoped people in Penang will give the party a chance if a state election is called, pointing out that Gerakan is a united party.
He pointed out that, as a matter of principle, it is not right to have a snap polls as it will be first time that the state and parliamentary elections are held separately in the Peninsular if it proceeds.
"I think it is wrong in principle, " Mah said, adding the party is confident of doing well and will fare better compared to previous elections.
Meanwhile, Mah also expressed his condolences following Chui's demise after her battle with cancer.
He said Chui had helped Koh a lot back then and it was a great loss to the people.
Earlier, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng accompanied by state exco members, DAP parliamentarians and assemblymen also came and paid their respects during her wake in Pulau Tikus.
