ROMPIN: Police are not ruling out the possibility of a home-made bomb being used in a botched robbery attempt at a bank in Muadzam Shah here today.

A section of the bank premises where the Automated Teller Machines (ATM) and Cash Deposit Machines (CDM) were situated was found damaged.

Pahang CID chief Datuk Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah said a footage of a closed circuit television camera showed images of three men, wearing face mask and gloves, at the premises at 5.35am.

"They were seen placing explosives between the ATM and CDM machine at about 5.35am, but the explosion failed to break the machines and the suspects fled," he told reporters at the scene here today.

A team from the Bukit Aman bomb disposal unit was at the scene to carry out investigation.
Raja Shahrom said the police were now identifying the materials used in the explosive that damaged almost the whole interior part of the premises, including shattered the glass wall.

He urged those with information on the incident to contact the police to assist investigation.

The bank is equipped with two units each of ATM and CDM, as well as a Cheque Deposit Machine. — Bernama
