Man charged with dealing with terrorist property

BUTTERWORTH: A 34-year-old man was charged with dealing with terrorist property at the magistrate's court today.
Bukhori Che Noor was accused of helping wanted militant Muhammad Wanndy Mohamed Jedi by facilitating transactions to and from his bank account for the benefit of a terrorist group.
He was alleged to have committed the offence between November 2015, and June 30, 2016, at a bank in the Perai Industrial Estate near here.
The offence, under the Penal Code, carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence, or with fine, and forfeiture of the property dealt with if convicted.
No plea was recorded when the charged was read to Bukhori, from Teluk Air Tawar near here, before magistrate Norashima Khalid.
DPP Noor Azrul Abdul Rahman prosecuted the case while the accused was unrepresented.
Norashima did not allow bail and fixed Aug 29 for mention for the case to be transferred to the Penang High Court.
