PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak wants the Felda community to mobilise all its energy, assets and existing network to reap greater success and look after the lot of settlers including their future generation.

Najib, who is also Finance Minister, said the main aim of setting up Felda which had been achieved with excellence, must also also be enjoyed by the second and third generations of the Felda community.

He said Felda must galvanise all its strengths including human assets and networks to achieve success and open the opportunities wider for the coming generations.

"As such, I want Felda to become a great economic and political power which will continue to look after the welfare of the settlers and their future generations. This two-prong aim is to ensure the survival of Felda.

"In order to achieve this end, the Felda community must cooperate with one another and outside Felda to build a network among the professional groups, entrepreneurs and those successful in their respective fields," he said in his speech at the 2016 'Salam Perantauan Warga Felda' ceremony here, here, today.
In this regard, Najib also urged the Felda community to continue ensuring social mobility in the country, other than boosting rural income, giving land to the landless and eradicating poverty.

"The social mobility has also enabled 50,000 settlers to move to the Klang Valley and their number can be higher," he said.

During the ceremony, Najib also handed letters of appointments to 10 Felda Professional Thinkers Federation Clusters (GAPROF) chairmen.

While congratulating them on the appointment, Najib hoped they would work with a strong determination and full of energy to make Felda's aim of becoming an economic and political power successful.

"It is hoped the appointment will also be able to ensure social mobility which has become more significant in the Felda community. With this hope, I wish Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, and continue with our struggle.

"God willing, we hope we can meet the ambitions and dreams for Felda and our nation as a whole," he said. — Bernama
