Pua disappointed with political 'friend'

PETALING JAYA: Infighting within the Opposition may have taken yet another bitter turn as a DAP leader vented his frustrations about a "friend" on social media.
Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua (pix), seemingly venting about Pakatan Harapan component party PKR, said he is disappointed with how the "friend" had acted recently.
"Sometimes you wonder what type of friends you have. When they are in a crisis, you backed them to the hilt, come what may.
"Then at a time where we would appreciate their support, they leak everything to the media first, leaving you completely naked. Or announce to the whole world their decision before they bother talking to us," Pua posted on Facebook today.
The comment came as PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the party will not support DAP's push for a snap election in Penang.
Wan Azizah reportedly said the decision was made after consulting civil societies on the matter and the party remains unconvinced.
DAP intends to have a snap election in Penang, a move that was widely seen as a bid to shore up public support for Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
Lim, who is Bagan MP and DAP secretary general, has been charged with corruption and abuse of power over a land deal and a below market price bungalow purchase.
DAP backed PKR when the latter initiated the "Kajang Move" in 2014 to replace then Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim with then Opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The move failed when the Court of Appeals overturned Anwar's sodomy acquittal and sentenced him to five years in jail, preventing PKR from fielding him as a candidate in the Kajang by-election on March 23, 2014.
