IF YOU are one of those who spends countless hours checking your Facebook timeline and Instagram feed, chances are you’ve seen your friends posting photos of an incredibly enticing looking tart, or the long queue they have had to wait in to get it.
This new pastry, the delicious and creamy Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart, has taken Malaysia by storm over the past several weeks. This Japanese brand first landed in Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang in June, and recently, fans flocked its newly-opened second outlet located in Berjaya Time Square, Kuala Lumpur.
To celebrate the occasion, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts held a special promotion, offering a free tart each to several hundred lucky customers. People began queueing up for their free tart before 1pm, with over 500 people lining up for their free tarts within an hour.
The event was made even more exciting by charismatic actor and radio deejay, William San, who graced the event to share his love for Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts.
San said that if given a chance, he would eat cheese tarts everyday. He also hoped that the next outlet the pastry chain opens will be near his office.
These locally-produced cheese tarts were inspired by and made with the help of pastry counterparts from Japan, with a slight twist to cater to the Malaysian palate.
It may look like a Portuguese Egg Tart but the texture and consistency is different, as it has a mousse centre that blends three types of cream cheese, piped into its shortcrust pastry base. The Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart is creamy, and melts in the mouth. It isn’t too sweet or cheesy, hence it isn’t too overpowering and filling.
The cheese tarts are best eaten straight out of the oven, which is why the tarts are baked fresh daily. However, if you want something a little more refreshing and smooth, you can put your tarts in the refrigerator, where they then develop the consistency of a creamy, cheesy ice cream.
In the near future, Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts will also be unveiling new, exciting flavours that will cater to even more tastebuds, and give customers a new and fresh experience.
Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tarts is located at Lot No. LG-19B-2, Lower Ground Floor of Berjaya Time Square. A single piece is sold at RM5.80, while you can also order the “buy five, get one free” promotional pack for RM29.
